The name of the company is a bit of a clue, but if you haven’t guessed yet, we operate our tours from BIG PURPLE TRUCKs!
Our trucks are overland vehicles, this means they come fully equipped with everything you could possibly need and give you a huge amount of space for yourself and all your belongings, including surf boards, scuba gear and any other sports equipment you might bring along.
Outside the Truck
On the outside of the truck we have several storage bins which house the tents and fold out chairs for extra comfort. On the side of the truck is a fold out kitchen area complete with gas cooker, preparation table and a large shady awing covers the whole set up. We store our comfy foam mattresses in a box on top of the truck and we carry out own water supply in a 200L tank.
Inside the Truck
Our vehicles are extremely spacious inside, meaning you can move around freely, stretch out, chat to your friends and have access to anything you might need when we are on the road and each comfortable individual seat has ample leg room and overhead luggage space. The large, fully opening windows are perfect for game viewing and admiring the fantastic South African scenery and there is also an on-board safe for all your money and documents. Each truck has an MP3 connectable tape deck and built-in speakers as well as an intercom to keep you connected to your driver at all times. We carry a well stocked first aid kit as well as a heap of informative reading material, games, novels and a few other fun bits and pieces.
In the back section of the truck, separated from the seating area, is all the cooking, cleaning and general supplies as well as a freezer to keep food fresh. This is where we store any sports equipment.
Equipment
Our tents, along with our careful selection of the very best campsites, make camping a fantastic experience. Each roomy two man dome tent has a built in mosquito net and is designed for the great South African outdoors. We also provide thick foam mattresses to make sure you get a good night’s rest.
Our chairs, like everything else on our trips, are built with comfort in mind, so you won’t find yourself perched on a fold out stool, rather sit back and relax in our supersize chairs, complete with drinks holders.
We provide all cooking and kitchen utensils for the trip as well as wood for campfires and braais.
Meals
We provide you with a hearty breakfast and dinner every day, these are sociable group affairs where you’ll occasionally be asked to help out with food preparation and washing up. South Africa is famous for its meat, seafood and fruit and we go out of our way to bring you the freshest and best quality produce on the market. You’ll get to sample lots of traditional South African specialities and our guests are always impressed by the variety and excellence of our meals. If you have any special dietary requirements, including vegetarian, kosher, halaal and gluten free diets, please let us know in advance and we will make sure that we meet your every need.
