DAG 2

DAG 1
So wees gereed vir EET! |
DAG 3
|
|
DAG 4
Vandag is ons laaste dag, maar net so vol besienswaardighede!

South Coast – Wild Coast
Durban – Port Shepstone – Oribi Gorge – Coffee Bay – Cintsa – Port Elizabeth |
Day 1
We depart the exotic city of Durban and head to the South Coast town of Umkomaas, home to one of the world’s top ten dive sites, the Aliwal Shoal. Explore this underwater paradise where all levels of diver can encounter manta rays, whale sharks and dolphins. Surfers won’t be disappointed either with the great waves and miles of golden beaches that this relaxed seaside town has to offer. We spend the night camping just metres from the beach so you can nod off to the sound of lapping waves.
Optional Activities: Surf Lessons, Scuba Diving
Day 2
Another adrenalin fuelled day lies ahead as we arrive at The Wild Five Adventure Centre in the gigantic Oribi Gorge. The slopes of the ravine are covered by a dense indigenous forest, inhabited by baboons, elusive leopards, buck, vervet and samango monkeys. The towering red sandstone cliffs are also home to the world’s highest gorge swing, a 100m arc from the top of Lehr’s waterfall. You can also take the Wild Slide along a steel cable 160m above the floor of the gorge, abseil alongside a waterfall or hit the rapids Wild Water Rafting on the Umzimkulu River. The more laid-back can enjoy the ancient, unspoilt beauty of this spot from a hiking trail or just sit quietly under the shade of an African mahogany tree. Then it’s onward into the Wild Coast to the tiny settlement of Coffee Bay, a fantastic surf spot with white beaches that will be our home for the next two nights.
Optional Activities: Gorge Swing, Wild Slide, Wild Water Rafting. |
|
Day 3
Coffee Bay is situated in the rural area formerly known as Transkei, which was at the forefront of South Africa’s independence struggle and still remains undeveloped and untouched. As well as offering great surf and secluded bays that are the perfect place to lose yourself for a few hours, Coffee Bay is big on responsible tourism, both environmental and cultural so you have the chance to support the local people by joining drum-playing workshops and watching traditional dancers and choirs perform. You can join yoga classes, learn to make traditional Xhosa bread or hike to the famous Hole in The Wall. This perfect rock arch that has been created over millennia by crashing waves and constant erosion, after the hike treat yourself to a therapeutic massage. We camp just a footstep from the beach under a canopy of indigenous trees and the site is managed by local villagers so our stay benefits the whole community.
Optional Activities: Surf Lessons, Yoga Classes, Hole in The Wall Hike, Drumming Workshops.
Day 4/5
On the road again we move south through rolling hills, getting another taste of Transkei’s rural splendour en route to the laid-back village of Cintsa, a place of warm secluded surf beaches and lush subtropical vegetation. Here you can do just as you please, surf, abseil, tan, go kloofing or horse riding, hike, swim, canoe or join in one of the many free activities organized by the fabulously well run hostel where we spend 2 nights. We can also arrange trips into the countryside to uncover another side of the Rainbow Nation on tours which combine adventure sports with cultural experiences.
Optional Activities: Surf Lessons, Abseiling, Kloofing, Horse Riding, Canoeing, Transkei Cultural Tours. |
Day 6
We travel further south along the Sunshine Coast, stopping to explore this rich environment where picturesque towns hug the dune-lined coast. This landscape of rolling pastures and waves benefits from more sunshine hours per year than any other part of South Africa, but it still a relatively undiscovered area for tourists so we are sure to find deserted beaches and unspoilt scenery on our way to the cheerful town of Port Elizabeth where your tour ends. |

Bright and early we head through to the whale and shark watching capital of South Africa, the pretty town of Hermanus. But for true thrill seekers there is only one thing to do in Hermanus, dive with Great White Sharks, with only a cage between you and Jaws! Get eyeball to eyeball with these awesome beasts and live to tell the tale. Scaredy cats can watch from the safety of the boat but either way it’s an electrifying experience. |
