We select the best campsites and backpackers to stay at along our route, and South Africa boasts some of the best budget accommodation available anywhere in the world, so we were really spoilt for choice. While the cost of camping is included in the price of the trip, at many of our stops you can chose to upgrade to a dorm or double room, availability permitting.

Cape Town

The Mother City buzzes with cosmopolitan vibes, and offers a million and one surprises to fill your days.  Admire breath taking views of the whole city from Table Mountain, visit Robbin Island, wander through open air markets and lounge on pristine beaches.  Cape Town is also a top spot for surfing and diving, you can even do your dive course here before your trip starts.

Durban

With the warm Indian Ocean lapping at your doorstep, vibrant Durban is a melting pot of Zulu, English and Indian culture.  Situated between the surf beaches of the South Coast and the game parks of Zululand it’s the perfect place to uncover the Rainbow Nation and bask in the year-round sunshine.

Port Elizabeth

Colourful PE nestles on the Sunshine Coast, half way between Cape Town and Durban.  Steeped in history, lose yourself amongst its museums, galleries, markets and cafes and explore the Oceanarium and Snake Park.  Port Elizabeth’s beaches are great for windsurfing and sunbathing and there are heaps of welcoming places to stay, see the links for a good selection.
